Timeline: 2025

To support the release of Yorke’s ‘Unfinished Business’ EP, I was commissioned to designed a 12-page mixed-media zine that extended the visual world beyond its digital and live formats.

Created as a fan-focused publication, the zine combined song lyrics, behind-the-scenes content, music video imagery, and original mixed media and graphic treatments into a collectible piece of print media. Distributed during Yorke's release week shows in Japan, the publication offered fans a deeper connection to the stories, themes, and creative process behind the project.

The objective was to create an immersive physical experience that felt authentic to the EP's identity, whilst strengthening audience engagement through storytelling and tactile design.

The Challenge

Create a publication that translated the visual and emotional world of Unfinished Business into a physical format. The zine needed to function as both a collectible keepsake and a storytelling device, providing fans with additional context around each track while remaining visually cohesive with the EP's existing campaign aesthetic.

The Solution

Drawing inspiration from the investigative and forensic-inspired visual language established throughout the EP rollout and music videos, I developed a mixed-media design approach that blended analogue and digital techniques.

Each spread was dedicated to an individual song, pairing lyrics with behind-the-scenes photography, stills from music videos, and supporting visual content. Hand-ripped collage elements, scanned textures, layered typography, and playful "fun fact" annotations were incorporated throughout the publication to create a sense of discovery and personality.

The combination of tactile materials and editorial storytelling helped transform the zine into an extension of Yorke's creative world, encouraging fans to engage with the music in a more intimate and memorable way.

Results

The finished publication successfully expanded the Unfinished Business campaign into a tangible, fan-focused experience. By combining editorial design with mixed-media experimentation, the zine provided audiences with a deeper connection to the EP while reinforcing the project's distinctive visual identity.

The project also served as an exploration of publication design, demonstrating how physical print can be used to enhance music releases and create meaningful touchpoints between artists and their audiences.
